It
is a well known fact that if you find yourself corresponding with a
customer relations department, then you are in the wrong place, as
ultimately very few complaints dealt with in these departments are
resolved to the passenger's complete satisfaction.
When
an airline's customer relations department has been unable or unwilling
to resolve a passenger's complaint, the passenger could try taking
their complaint to the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) or the Chairman,
of the airline concerned.
Many
airline CEO's
are cushioned from passenger complaints by the various departments
within the airline and so many of them never get to find out the
reality of just how many complaints the airline has received or how
much anger and frustration they have created in their passengers. Thus,
many CEO's
have no concept of reality when it comes to how their passenger's feel
about the airline and just how much bad publicity a passenger can
create in an effort to vent their anger and frustration.
The CEO's
go about their daily business either blissfully unaware of the problems
that passengers have encountered, or they just don't care. By
contacting the CEO of an airline, a passenger will at least find out
which one of these it is!
If a
passenger comes across a CEO that cares, he will probably be able to
resolve their complaint without further upset. If
not, a passenger can simply initiate legal proceedings against the
airline, since having explored every other avenue, that would be the
only option open to them.
Alerting
other passengers to how a particular airline treats complaints is also
a good idea in order to air your complaint as fully as possible. Contacting
travel organisations, such as regulatory bodies, parliament, television
(particularly consumer programs), radio, newspapers and posting on the
Internet are all useful tools in forcing an airline to listen to it's
passengers.

mark any correspondence "private and confidential", including the
subject box on an email, as this way you can be sure that your
correspondence will reach the correct person, who will hopefully take
the complaint seriously and deal with it fairly.
