Dear Sirs,

I am writing to complain about damage caused to my suitcase (or suitcases, if more than one suitcase was damaged) and some contents which occurred on my recent journey with (Name of Airline) on (the date of the flight) from (Your place of departure, for example, London Heathrow) to (your place of arrival, for example, New York JFK) on flight number (the number of the flight).

On arrival at my destination (the word “destination” covers the airport or your home/hotel etc., wherever you discovered the damage), I discovered damage to the following items of my luggage:

(list all the damaged items and their individual costs, for example):

Laptop

£1,650.00

Hairdryer

£35.00

Trousers

£70.00

Travel Iron

£27.00

Suitcase

£126.00

Total

£1,908.00

I express total disappointment in the way my luggage has been handled by (Name of Airline).  I declared the total value of my luggage at (the amount you declared your luggage to be valued at, for example, £12,000 – only use this sentence if you declared the total value of your luggage during check in) and asked your staff to take good care of my luggage when I checked in.

I am very upset by this matter and I ask that (Name of Airline) repair the items to their original condition or compensate me to the value of the above items without delay.

I look forward to your urgent reply to my complaint.

Yours Sincerely,
